The Sound of Encouragement

A Visitor

I had an unusual visitor today.

I was chatting with my niece on the phone when I turned to look out of the window at the side of theHawk  house - and perched beneath the bird feeder was this magnificent bird>

I had to sit the phone down and grab my camera quickly -- and slowly I took three pictures of the bird while it was sitting proudly on the trimmed Rose of Sharon shrub on the front side of the garage.

As best as I can identify it, I believe it might be a juvenile red-shouldered hawk.

Just as I took the third and final picture of this beautiful creature, it glided down to the front of the garage and hopped casually to the lilac bush on the far side of the garage. A small bird flew out and upward and the hawk gave chase, and finally gave up when it realized the little bird had escaped.

Loved the pic of the hawk, excellent photography of it. Enjoyed reading the web page.
