I had an unusual visitor today.
I had to sit the phone down and grab my camera quickly -- and slowly I took three pictures of the bird while it was sitting proudly on the trimmed Rose of Sharon shrub on the front side of the garage.
As best as I can identify it, I believe it might be a juvenile red-shouldered hawk.
Just as I took the third and final picture of this beautiful creature, it glided down to the front of the garage and hopped casually to the lilac bush on the far side of the garage. A small bird flew out and upward and the hawk gave chase, and finally gave up when it realized the little bird had escaped.
